PG STUDENTS UNVEIL ‘THE THAN NEWS’ MAGAZINE

The postgraduate class of 2024/2025, International Institute of Journalism, IIJ, has successfully launched their magazine, “The Than News”, at a ceremony held at the NUJ center, Oshogbo.

The event marked the culmination of their Sub Editing and Graphics Design course, where students applied theoretical knowledge to produce a high-quality publication.

According to Dr. Thani Abdulazeez, the course lecturer, the magazine was conceived to provide students with hands-on experience in magazine production.

“The idea was to give students a platform to showcase their skills and creativity in a real-world setting,” he explained.

The highlight of the event was the official presentation of the magazine to the IIJ Coordinator and the academic board of the Union.

In his remarks, the Coordinator, Abass Okandeji, commended the students for their hard work and dedication.

“This achievement is a testament to the students’ commitment to excellence and the uniqueness of this particular set is something to talk about always,” he noted.

The Academic Board Chairman, Elder Olusola Ajiboye, also commended the students for their creativity, admonishing them to continue the good work.

He urged them not to rest on their laurels, but to continually seek out rare news and stories, and to remain undaunted by any situation in the country.

The Osun NUJ Chairman, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu, in his address encouraged the students to continue to hone their skills and to remain committed to the principles of good journalism.

Ajadosu also commended the center Coordinator who he said has really done well in the academic coordination.

The course representative, Engr. Lekan Adeleke, thanked the lecturers for their impact and understanding.

Adeleke, who narrated the magazine’s journey, highlighted the obstacles faced by the students.

“From conceptualization to production, the students worked tirelessly to ensure the magazine met the expected standards,” he said.

In her vote of thanks, Oluwasemiloore also expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, lecturers, and colleagues for their support.

The event concluded with a closing prayer led by Sheik Hammed Olaide Taofeeq and a group photograph.
