As Nigeria’s 10th National Assembly marks its midterm, lawmaker representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya, has assured his constituents of renewed vigour and asked them to anticipate for more dividends of democracy.
Shagaya gave the assurance in a document released by his Special Adviser on Maedia and Publicity, Basheer Luqman, detailing his achievements in the last two years in office.
The document titled, ‘SHAGAYA’S TWO YEARS OF LEGISLATIVE EXCELLENCE: How Ilorin West/Asa Rep Redefined Grassroots Representation’, was made available to newsmen on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
The document stated that the lawmaker has sponsored 15 bills including the landmark Federal Medical Centre, Afon Establishment Bill, and co-sponsored 7 critical bills including the State Police Bill.
It said that the lawmaker moved 7 motions addressing national emergencies from diphtheria outbreaks to food security and initiated legislation for five Federal Cancer Research Centres across geopolitical zones.
Shagaya said his policies align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq’s Kwara First policy.
According to him, the motion for Ilorin-Offa-Osogbo rail rehabilitation complements the federal infrastructure plans, while the medical outreach programs is in line with the state’s healthcare reforms.
As part of efforts to make life better for constituents, the first time lawmaker embarked on constituency projects to include 50 motorized boreholes across 29 wards, 1,000 fertilizer sacks boosting agricultural productivity, 6 digital classroom boards revolutionizing learning, provision of JAMB forms for 350 indigent students, as well as grants to 1,500 constituents.
“The ‘Keke Irorun’ tricycle scheme has created transport entrepreneurs, while the ‘Aso-Oke weavers’ empowerment program is preserving cultural heritage,” the document read.
The document added that the Ilorin West/Asa lawmaker also facilitated the construction of solar-powered streetlights in some areas, 6-classroom block at Alore Junior Secondary School, and renovation of Pakata LGEA Primary School.
Others include, “Donation of 10,000 exercise books and 130 whiteboards and 100 free WAEC registrations for indigent students.
“As Shagaya marks his second anniversary, constituents eagerly anticipate more dividends.
“With 3,500 Ramadan food packs already distributed and solar-powered streetlights illuminating communities, the lawmaker shows no signs of slowing down.”
