Publisher of Oasis Magazine, Pastor Daniel Dafe Umukoro, on Wednesday regained his freedom after his release from the custody of the Department of State Services, Bayelsa State Command.
A source close to the media house disclosed this on Wednesday evening under conditions of anonymity.
Recall that the media guru was arrested on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in Abraka by four gun-wielding officials of DSS from the said command accompanied by one of their counterparts from the Delta State Command.
Although the said source could not give details for the arrest and present development on the matter, he said that the arrest could be linked to a story published on oasismagazine.com.ng on a lawmaker in Bayelsa.
“Umukoro is a good man and we are happy he is out of their custody,” he declared.
Meanwhile, the publisher in a social media post on Wednesday night, wrote: “I am out now; God be praised,” just as he thanked the Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo; Vice Chancellor, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Professor Samuel Asagba; Festus Ahon, Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State Governor; Churchill Oyowe, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, his mum, wife, siblings, parents of Success Life Model Nursery and Primary School and Success Life High School, Abraka and friends, mentioning particularly Tony Arugba for all their supports while his ordeal lasted.
“These things happen once in a while but we will do all to avoid such next time by avoiding such pitfalls,” he concluded.
At the time of this report, he was yet to reunite with his family as he is still yet to return to Abraka.
