Islamic clerics in Kwara State have commended former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, for his Iftar Meal Initiative which has provided meals for more than 50,000 Muslims during the ongoing Ramadan fasting period.

The initiative, organised through the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation, is aimed at supporting Muslims with meals to break their fast during the last ten days of Ramadan.

Under the programme, meals are distributed to about 100 Muslims daily in each of the 52 mosques selected across the state.

Beyond Kwara State, the programme has also been extended to seven other states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, reaching thousands of beneficiaries.

Within the State of Harmony, the initiative covered all the 16 local government areas, including several mosques in the state capital, Ilorin.

Speaking during the distribution of meals at the Imam Shuaibu Alaye Mosque in Alagbado, Alfa Sheikh Alaye praised the initiative, noting that Islam encourages acts of charity and support for the needy, especially during the fasting period.

He said the gesture reflects the spirit of Ramadan and ensures that vulnerable members of the community are not left out while observing the fast.

According to him, the initiative has helped many less privileged Muslims break their fast with dignity and ease.

Similarly, at the Aduralere Omoluabi Mosque in Pake Ipata, Sheikh Imam Muhammadu Jamiu expressed appreciation to Saraki for the humanitarian gesture.

He noted that the initiative has inspired other prominent individuals to emulate the act of feeding Muslims during Ramadan.

The cleric described the programme as a commendable effort that promotes compassion, unity and support among members of the Muslim community.

The Iftar Meal Initiative involved the distribution of various food items including rice, beans, bread and other meals to worshippers across participating mosques in the state.
