Nigerian Climate Journalist, Dare Akogun, has called for collaborative efforts among nations to ensure a decolonized and green future that is sustainable, just and equitable.

Akogun made the call while speaking at a “Solidarity for Decolonization and Green Future” side event by the Baku Initiative Group, in Baku, Azerbaijan on Monday. He urged Stakeholders to listen to the voices of vulnerable communities and find a lasting solution to the global crisis.

He said, “It is very important to listen to the voices of affected communities, and recognizing that the solutions to our global crisis can not exclude those who are burn the brunt of historic injustice.

“It is not just about preparation, it is about building partnership, like we are doing now, that empowers every nation to thrive in harmony with the planet.

“I want to call on us to work together to ensure that scars of colonialism are not passed down as burdens to future generations, so that we would have truly a decolonized and green future that is sustainable, just and equitable.
