The immediate former Treasurer of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Kwara State, Hon. Olatunji Kannajogun Gabriel, has resigned his membership of the PDP and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Kannajogun announced his resignation in a letter dated 17th October, 2025, and addressed to the party Chairman, Jebba Ward, Moro LGA, of Kwara State.
He attributed his decision to resign his membership to the derailment of the party from its original purpose and values.
The former Speaker, Moro Local government Legislative Council said although a hard decision to make, he was compelled to because the party has been “hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside.”
The letter read, “After deep reflection and careful consideration, I wish to formally tender my resignation letter as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“I want to state it in clear terms and unambiguously that my decision to resign and abandon PDP did not come lightly. Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight.
“To this end, I have come to the solemn conclusion that I can no longer, in good conscience, remain within a system that has strayed so far from its original purpose and value. Therefore, I am compelled to part way with the PDP as I earnestly sign up with the new coalition political party known as the African Democratic Congress, ADC.”
Kannajogun thanked the PDP, its leader and members at all levels for the opportunity accorded him to serve.
“Permit me to use this opportunity to express my profound gratitude for the privileges I have been given by the party to context and serve as member and speaker of Moro Local Government Legislative Council, the Kwara PDP state treasurer, and most recently, the National Delegate slot given to me, which I later rejected for obvious reasons.”
