I-TECH, AFOPET Partners on ICT Training

  • Launches State-of-Art Computers, Other Gadgets in Erin-Oke

A non-governmental organization, I-TECH, has donated a state-of-the-art IT Training Centre to AFOPET College in Erin-Oke, Oriade local government area of Osun state.

The centre was donated with a goal to provide training and digital education to individuals to become productive and be able to compete with their counterparts across the globe.

The launching of the computer centre named Late Christopher Abiodun Adewumi Oyinlola ICT Lab, held on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at the school premises in Erin-Oke.

The occassion was attended by representatives of the charity organization, government representative, school management and students, as well as community leaders.

Speaking during the commissioning, the Chairman of ITECH in Nigeria, Mr. Adewale Ladesuyi, noted that I-Tech is in partnership with AFOPET to train the young ones in various aspects of digital innovation and prepare them for the expanding and evolving international remote IT job opportunities home and abroad.

According to him, some of the school teachers are already undergoing training and will in turn train other trainers that will train the students.

While noting that the initial training scholarship fund and other incidental costs to students is worth over of twenty-five million naira, Ladesuyi explained that the trainees will only be required to pay a token for foreign examinations before securing foreign remote jobs.

He explained that government, organisations and individuals are also permitted to support the project by donating towards the schorlarship training of more students.

The School proprietor, Mr Afolabi Oluwafemi Peter, said the initiative, a testament to the vision of Olori Oyinlola, will pave way for boundless opportunities for Erin-Oke and other neighbouring communities.

The educationist said the partnership project will in the next few months hold, trainings, workshops, outreaches and various initiatives to promote digital innovation in Osun and Nigeria at large. Afolabi thanked I-Tech Vocational Charity for their support.

The gadgets in the ICT lab include twenty sets of computers and other information technology devices and accessories for advanced digital training.

Dignitaries at the commissioning include Olori Abigael Oyinlola, Diana Oyinlola, Venerable Ayo Omoloje of The Anglican Church, Erin-Oke, Chief Imam Aliu Oloke, President, Erin-Oke Development Association, Idowu Ososusi, I-Tech officials among others.
