KWACCIMA INAUGURATES RONKE ADEYEMI AS FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT

The Kwara State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, has inaugurated its 11th President, Chief (Mrs.) Ronke Adeyemi and the new executives.

The swearing in ceremony held on Thursday, September 14th, at the Banquet Hall, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Delivering her first speech as the first KWACCIMA Female President, Ronke Adeyemi assured that the new executives will strive to continue the good work of the previous administration while calling for the youths to be indoctrinated to secure the state’s and nation’s future.

“This present executive will work hard not only to sustain the good foundation already laid for us but to build on it and surpass it and leave even a better legacy for those coming after us”, she said.

She added, “We will pay special attention to our youths, who have shown tendencies and abilities to grow in the private sector. They need encouragement, help, and mentorship as they have the zeal, energy, and big opportunities needed in today’s world”.

Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, who was at the event in her capacity as the Hon. Commissioner for Business, Innovation & Technology as well as the representative of the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq assured that all hands are on deck to ease the pains of the recent economic hardship.

“The economy is going through a major reengineering after the removal of the fuel subsidy. This is a great test of our continuity and resilience as a people. I believe that our economy will come out of it stronger, better, and more productive.

“Mr. President and his team are working round the clock to ease the situation and ongoing reforms are on the way at sub-national levels, to complement federal government efforts to make life easier for the people within the current global economic realities”, she stated.

The Kwara Central Senatorial Representative, Senator Saliu Mustapha represented by his Special Technical Adviser on Job Creation, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Nasir Abdulkadir revealed the level to which agriculture contributes to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product.

Abdulkadir said, “Agriculture, without a shadow of a doubt is the flag point of our nation’s economy. It is a cornerstone that contributes significantly to our Gross Domestic Product. It is the very fabric of our economy’s stability.

“The fertile soil of Nigeria coupled with the industrial spirit of our people make agriculture a green screen industry that can never be ignored”.

The 1st Deputy President of the National Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, Alh. Jani Ibrahim, charged the new executives to devote their talents, treasure, and time to the roles and to be advocates for businesses in the state.

“It is a movement that requires sacrifice, dedication and contribution because we assume that everybody has the three T’s which are talents, treasure and time, he said.

He added, “We are very optimistic that KWACCIMA will also take on other projects in the future that will make one persevere to stand out and provide the necessary support that the business owners desire”.

In his remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Alhaji (Dr.) Kamoru I. Yusuf, represented by Abdulfatai Adeyemi appealed to the Federal Government for proper financing of raw materials manufacturers, access to ports as well as an extension on the work on the nation’s railway system.

“We appeal to the Federal government to ensure the proper financing of businesses that make raw materials available for manufacturing in Nigeria to ensure backward integration to reduce the cost of manufacturing of products.

“We also appeal for access to the ports as it takes a lot of time for the importers to get their goods at the port. Thirdly, escalation and extension of the work that has been done so far in railway to reduce the cost of transportation.

“We ask that the Federal Government ensures that the cost of energy is brought down and that the cost of manufacturing also goes down.”

The new executives include: Chief Mrs. Oluronke Adeyemi (President), Engr. Abu Salami (1st Deputy President ), Alh. Ibrahim Hassan Sani (2nd Deputy President), Chief Chukwuemeka Cletus Udoka (VP Commerce), Alhaji Ibraheem Yinka Yahaya (VP Industry), and Olugbenga Francis Adebowale Ajala (VP Mines).

Others are Prince Ajisefini Ayodeji Tajudeen (VP Agriculture), Chief Abiodun Dada, Esq (VP Finance and Professional Practices), Hajia Zururat Romoke Zubair ( VP, Cooperatives and Informal Sector), Mrs. Bolarinwa Sadiq Abiodun (Treasurer), Barr. Rotimi Oyagbola, Esq (Legal Adviser), Prince Olusegun Oyewole (Internal Auditor) and Amao Damilola Rachael (Public Relations Officer).
