NECA’s Network of Entrepreneurial Women, NNEW, Kwara State chapter, has supported 51 pupils of Bishop Smith’s Primary school, Ilorin with the payment of school fees for the new academic term.
The organization pledged to do more as part of efforts to support in curbing rate of out of school in the society.
The State Chairperson of NNEW, Mrs Ayobami Adediran, stated this on Monday, at the school, when she led other members to present an undisclosed sum of money to the school authority.
The chairperson said the gesture was to ensure that the beneficiaries were not deprived of their right to education.
Adediran, who is also the CEO of Bammy Fabric & Varieties, said they understand the tough economic situation in the country, hence, the urge to intervene.
Kwara NNEW Financial Officer and CEO Of Delish Bakery, Mrs Maimunat Abdulkareem, admonished the pupils to focus on their studies and avoid the various societal ills that could derail them from their dreams.
The school Headmistress, Mrs A.T Afolayan, thanked Kwara NNEW for the financial support, which she said will ensure that the pupils remain enrolled in school.
The headmistress noted that the challenge of out of school children will reduce considerably if other privileged individuals and organizations follow the path of NNEW.
Speaking earlier, the Vice-chairperson and CEO of Epitome of Elegance Realtors, Mrs Bilkis Abdul, said NNEW is a platform established in 2005 under the aegis of Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association to promote and nurture entrepreneurship amongst women.
Abdul said the forum, spread across states of the federation, is where women entrepreneurs discuss issues, share information and create linkages that will enhance growth of their businesses.
Other NNEW excos who were part of the team are the Public Relations Officer and CEO Of Ambassador 3T Int’l, Mrs Oluwatosin Opegbemi as well as the Ex-officio and CEO of Moaj Media Consult, Mrs Mary Ajado.
