The Chairman, Oriade Local Government, Hon Taiwo Adeyekun, has admonished parents and guardians to ensure that their wards acquire basic education in order to improve literacy level in the society and secure a good future for them.

The chairman gave the charge at the weekend while presenting school materials to a scholarship beneficiary, Maxwell Olatunji, in his office.

The 14-year old boy had dropped out of school for some years after his junior secondary education.

The LG chairman, however, re-enrolled him at the Government Technical College, Ijeda, to pursue his dream.

Adeyekun also procured needed academic items to include school uniforms, textbooks and technical tools.

Speaking while presenting the items to the beneficiary, Adeyekun, who promised to support him through his academics, said he was inspired by his artistic talent, brilliance and passion for education.

He decried the high rate of promising children, who are out of school and charged parents to prioritize their children’s education.

He also vowed to ensure that out of school children are enrolled back in school within available resources.

The father of the beneficiary, Mr Olatunji expressed appreciation for the favour and pledged to ensure proper upbringing of the boy.

The beneficiary, Maxwell Olatunji, well known for his creative talents in Ijebu-Jesa, also vowed to live up to expectation.
