Saraki urges PDP members to remain united ahead of 2027 polls

Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has called on members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to remain steadfast and resist the urge to defect, as the party positions itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Saraki made the call on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The meeting, which was attended by key party leaders and supporters, focused on strengthening the party’s unity and preparing for upcoming political activities.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, PDP spokesperson in Kwara State, Olusegun Olushola Adewara, disclosed that Senator Saraki updated members on recent developments within the party, including the outcome of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and preparations for the forthcoming PDP National Convention scheduled to hold in Oyo State.

According to Adewale, internal conflicts within the party have been resolved, paving the way for effective planning and mobilization.

He also noted that the party has finalized the timetable for its ward, local government, and state congresses.

Senator Saraki, while addressing the gathering, emphasized the importance of remaining loyal to the party.

He cautioned against speculation and discussions about possible defections, urging members to remain united and focused on reclaiming political ground in 2027.

He also encouraged party faithful to actively participate in the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

He stressed the need for grassroots mobilization to ensure wide participation, especially among young and first-time voters.

Saraki concluded by reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP and expressed confidence in the party’s chances in the upcoming elections.
