Tax Evasion: Osun Govt. Seals Off Prism Steel Mill, Ikirun, others

In continuation of the tax enforcement exercise ongoing in Osun State, PRISM STEEL Mill, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state and other businesses in Ede were sealed due to non-compliance and evasion of tax payments.

The tax enforcement team led by the executive chairman of Osun Internal Revenue Service (OIRS), Prince Adesola Adewumi gave the order to seal off the company and other business premises due to non-challant attitude to tax payments and harmonized demand notice from Osun Internal Revenue Service.

In his words, “PRISM STEEL ROLLING MILL and others has been served harmonized demand notice for quite sometime to fulfil their statutory obligations to the coffer of the state government but failed to help themselves.

“the refusal to obliged with fulfilling the companies responsibility to the state led to sealing of the business premises”.

Prince Adewumi who explained that stipulated deadline has been given to all businesses in the state to pay up their bill, therefore expressed dissatisfaction in the refusal to proceed payments to the coffers of the government.

While addressing journalists in Ede, the OIRS boss said all sealed businesses in the state failed to comply with payments despite the grace given by the state governor since ending of July this year.

“We are lucky to have this type of governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke in Osun State who doesn’t want any business to be sealed, giving grace till 31st of July this year to business owners to do the needful”. he said.

He therefore implored all businesses in the state to rise up to their responsibilities without given the state government the opportunity of running after them for any of their statutory obligations
