The Kwara Likeminds Front (KLF) has called for peaceful campaigns ahead of the forthcoming general elections slated for February 25 and March 11, 2023.
The Convener of KLF, Honourable Maxwell Kolawole made this call on Thursday while speaking with newsmen in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital.
He implored political parties to adhere to INEC guidelines for campaign and avoid campaign of calumny/name calling that could trigger violence during the electioneering process.
The former state Chairman of Democratic Peoples Party, said running peaceful campaigns would encourage more people to participate in the election, especially when Nigerians are facing numerous challenges including fuel scarcity and currency swap crisis.
Kolawole also appealed to security agencies to provide adequate security at political campaign venues and intensify intelligence gathering ahead of the elections.
He hinted that the coalition would unveil their preferred candidates before February 25 Presidential and National elections.
According to him, KLF, comprising thousands of Kwarans who are professionals, artisans and retirees across the 16 local government areas of Kwara State will meet soon to give our members direction on the candidates to support during 2023 general elections.
