Akogun of Shao preaches selflessness, tolerance at Eid-el-Kabir

The Akogun of Shao Kingdom, Elder Chief Dr. Oladunni Olanrewaju Alaba, has felicitated with Muslims in Shao, Kwara State, Nigeria, and across the world on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.

In his Sallah message, Chief Alaba congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the Hajj pilgrimage and urged them to reflect on the lessons of sacrifice, obedience, patience, and total submission exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

He called on the faithful to embrace selflessness and place the collective good of their families, communities, and the nation above personal interests, while also cautioning road users to drive with care, in order for them to arrive their destinations safely.

The traditional titleholder also urged Nigerians to use the occasion of Eid celebration to promote peace, religious tolerance, unity, and harmonious coexistence across ethnic and religious lines.

Chief Alaba appealed to Muslims to remember the less privileged by extending kindness and sharing with widows, orphans, the poor, and other vulnerable members of society.

He also expressed condolences over the loss of lives during the latest terrorist attack on the palace of the revered Emir of Yashikira, during which scores of people were reported abducted, while also showing concern over the plight of the abducted worshippers from a prayer ground at Ori-Oke Ajaiye, on the outskirts of Ikiran village in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing three worshippers and abducting 15 others during a vigil.

The Akogun who also showed similar concern over abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State and called for special prayers for their safe release, further urged security agencies to intensify rescue efforts while praying for peace, security, and prosperity in Nigeria and wishing Muslims a joyful and blessed Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
