Mufutau, wife conferred as Bobakeye, Yeye Bobakeye of Elegebrun

As part of efforts to acknowledge and appreciate the great impact of Chief Sefiu Adebayo Mufutau and Chief Mrs. Adetoun Mufutau’s philanthropic life to the Elegberun Community in Ife South Local Government in Osun state, the Okero of Elegberun land, Oba Adedokun Evans Ademiluyi has conferred the couple with Chieftaincy title of Bobakeye and Yeye Bobakeye of Elegberun land.

Speaking at the coronation on Saturday, 28th August, 2023, the Obalufe of Ife land, Oba Idowu Adediwura, who represented the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, noted that the title of Bobakeye is a unique title of great influence.

“This Bobakeye is title that gives the chief access to the king directly without any hindrance.”

He further congratulated and urged the new chiefs to remain committed to the tradition and culture of Ife land and Yoruba land at large.

Conferring the chieftaincy title, Oba Ademiluyi lauded the exceptional philanthropic life of Adebayo who he described as a man of integrity, dignity and of impeccable character.

This, he said informed the decision, “why the ruling council of Elegberun land deemed it fit to honour him and his wife with such a high chieftaincy title. 

In his remark, the Newly installed Chief, Adebayo Mufutau disclosed that his philanthropic gesture was to raise donation for the “Operation Help a Nigeria Pupil with a Better Learning Environment.” 

HRM Oba Dr Adedokun Evans Okero Ademiluyi (Akinmoyero 1) Okero of Elegberun land Ile-Ife extolled the exceptional philanthropic life of Adebayo.

According to the Nigeria born, UK based entrepreneur and philanthropist, “we look forward to raising a total of N72 million to construct, renovate and equip three public schools in Iwo LGA, Ola-Oluwa LGA, and Ayedire LGA in Osun State in the first phase of the project as plans are in top gear to extend the project to other parts of the country.”

Meanwhile, dignitaries present at the event include Royal Fathers; HRM Oba Idowu Adediwura, the Obalufe Oodua, HRM Oba Sakaniyawu Olawusi, the Obaloran  of Ife, HRM Oba Olusegun Adedire, the Obawara Ife, and HRM Oba Adebisi Segun Layade, the Alara Odaye of Ara Land.

Others include friends from different walks of life among whom are; Tajudeen Michael Onakoya from Dublin, Rasaq Onakoya from Birmingham, Alaba Onakoya from Birmingham, and Alhaja Kubura from Birmingham among others.

The coronation ceremony featured Traditional rites, Ewi Recitation, Traditional Music and Prayers for the new chiefs.
