President of the 8th Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has urged Nigerians across the country and in the diaspora to commit themselves to the ideals and teachings of Islam during this holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement issued by his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, in Ilorin on Sunday, the former Senate President said the Ramadan period, being one of the five pillars of Islam, should be observed in total submission to the will of Allah.
According to him, the Muslim faithful should endeavor to exercise total adherence to the pillars of Islam, which commands all to pray, fast, and give alms.
He particularly appealed to the privileged individuals and organizations to support the less privileged at this holy period of Ramadan.
He also charged Muslim faithful to spend the season in prayer for Nigeria to overcome its challenges and flourish.
“As we begin the holy month of Ramadan, let us all take time to reflect on the teachings of the holy Prophet. Let us see it as an opportunity to be kind to the needy and lend a helping hand to whoever and whenever we can.
“I pray that Almighty Allah will accept this as an act of Ibadah, grant our prayers, bless our families, communities and continue to bless our nation,” he prayed.
