And in the mood of the season, pupils of Ijesa Special School for Physically Challenged, Enu-Odi, Ilesa, were of good cheer as they held their Christmas party.
The party, held on Wednesday, Dec 06, 2023, in the school hall, was attended by philanthropists, caregivers, health providers, community representatives with support from some Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs.
Speaking at the annual celebration, the Chief organizer, Dr Gbolabo Oni, said the party, the fifth of its kind, was to enliven the physically challenged pupils and give them a sense of belonging.
Oni, while highlighting the successes recorded in the year, expressed gratitude to the staff members and those who have supported the school.

He however stressed that there’s still a lot to be done and therefore, called for the government intervention, especially in the production of braille for the visually impaired.
He also denied insinuations that he has a child in the school, noting that his service is solely to humanity because individuals, organizations and the government are not offering them the needed assistance.

Also speaking, a donor, Prof. Adeboye Omole, expressed his joy to again be part of the annual festivity, which is described as very significant.
He however expressed concern over the lingering needs of the physically challenged pupils and called on the government, privileged individuals and NGOs alike to come to their aid.
He also expressed gratitude to the NGOs that assisted with fund to finance this year’s Day out with the Physically Challenged and Christmas party.

Some of the highlights of the party for pupils of Ijesa Special School for Physically Challenged are rendition of Christmas tunes, dance and choreography, quiz competition, medical check-up, and donation of various gift items to the school.
The elated children also had a great time dancing with the Father Christmas who also showered them with gifts.
Dignitaries at the party include Dr Oni Gbolabo, Prof. Adeboye Omole, the school Headmistress, Esther Ibironke, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Ilesa East LGA, Mr Dare Ashaolu and another representative from the LGA, Mr Agbaje.
Others are a Specialist in Child Care, Mrs Ibitola Owoeye, Nurse Temi Omole, Nurse Grace Oginni and Mr Ademola Philips among others.
