KWACCIMA Applauds Govt Support, Introduces Grant for SMEs

  • As 2023 Kwara Trade fair opens

The President, Kwara State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KWACCIMA), Chief Mrs Ronke Adeyemí, has said that the 2023 Kwara Trade fair will give the business community an opportunity to showcase their products and services and attract customers and investors.

Adeyemi stated this on Monday, Dec 11, at the opening ceremony of the 10th Kwara Trade Fair at Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin. 

The KWACCIMA President said this year’s trade fair with the theme, “A renewed hope in transforming commerce”, aims to project the business potentials across the state. 

Adeyemi, a legal practitioner and business woman, appreciated Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his love and consistent support for the Chamber in hosting the trade fair. 

Declaring the 10th Kwara Trade Fair open, Governor AbdulRazaq, in his address promised to continue to upgrade existing infrastructure and build new ones to ease movement of people, goods and services.

The Governor who also Chairman Nigeria Governors’ Forum said his administration has continued to streamline business processes to improve the ease of doing business and keep the state as a top investment destination in Nigeria.

His words: “Regardless of the general economic situations worldwide, the quality of what we are seeing here is a testament to the conducive environment that Kwara has become for all legitimate businesses and economic concerns. What is at play here are ingenuity, innovation, and collaboration.

“The government would continue to work with all stakeholders, especially all the security agencies, to keep the state safe and healthy for businesses to thrive. 

“The Nano, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NMSMEs) are the life wire of any thriving economy. This explains our many interventions in this area, including the Kwapreneur initiative, Owo Isowo, conditional cash transfer, and many others.”

The Governor said his administration has invested in projects and programmes such as innovation hub, garment factory, visual arts centre, sugar film factory, and shea butter factory to create the platforms for sustainable job creation. 

Kwara State Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology (BIT), Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun in her remarks, said the Trade Fair serves not just to showcase products and services, but also to establish and maintain customer relations, find business partners and personnel, market research instrument, and position companies.

Adelodun implored business moguls and entrepreneurs in the state to think beyond conventional boundaries and envision Kwara as a hub of innovation and economic prosperity.

The Chairman of 10th Kwara Trade Fair organizing committee, Engr Abu Salami disclosed some SMEs with good business proposal will get N100,000 at the end of the fair. 

Engr Abu said 2023 trade fair is holding from December 8 to 17 at the Kwara Stadium Complex, Ilorin from 8:00am to 6:00pm daily.

Representative of the President for NACCIMA (National Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture) Olusoji Fagbemi, Chairman KAM Wires, Alhaji Kamorudeen Yusuf, Kwara Commissioners for Communications, Water Resources and local government affairs, TIC Chairmen from 16 local government areas led the ALGON Chairman, Hon Jide Asonibare and other dignitaries attended the opening ceremony.

Highlight of the opening ceremony include Governor’s visit to different stands and celebration of Kwara State Government with free food for participants.
