Stakeholders, community leaders, and party faithful in Asa Local Government Area have endorsed Dr. Mopelola Bashir Abdulmalik as their consensus candidate for the Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was contained in a formal letter addressed to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, through the APC State Chairman and the party structure in Asa LGA.
The group said Dr. Bashir stands out as a unifying and credible figure capable of delivering effective representation at the National Assembly, adding that her emergence aligns with the development vision of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State.
They noted her consistent loyalty to the present administration, particularly her support for the “AA mandate” and her grassroots mobilisation efforts across Ilorin West and Asa axis.
Describing her as a bridge-builder, the stakeholders said she possesses the capacity to unify the diverse political and social interests within the constituency while promoting balanced development across urban and rural communities.
The group also highlighted her academic background as a Ph.D holder and educationist, stating that her intellectual depth would strengthen legislative performance and policy representation at the National Assembly.
Her record in community development, especially in education support, healthcare interventions, and empowerment programmes, was also cited as evidence of her readiness for higher legislative responsibility.
The stakeholders further argued that her emergence would advance inclusion, particularly women’s participation in governance, while boosting the APC’s electoral strength ahead of the 2027 polls.
They expressed confidence in the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and urged him to support what they described as a credible, marketable, and development driven consensus choice for the constituency.
The letter was signed by Dr. Ayinla Ibrahim Kuranga on behalf of stakeholders from Agbona, Elebue, and Fata communities in Asa Local Government Area.
